Martin Allegro and TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau have agreed to a contract extension, the club announced in a press release.
Allegro transferred to Grenzau from TSV Bad Königshofen in January 2025, and has been a key member of Grenzau’s roster ever since. With this extension, Allegro will continue to be a mainstay for at least the 2026-27 Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) season.
“Martin has integrated himself excellently into our team in his first season, both athletically and humanly,” Grenzau chairman Olaf Gstettner said, per the release. “Especially in difficult phases, he has set important impulses. We are convinced that he will exploit his potential even more in the coming season.
Allegro ranks as the Bundesliga’s No. 67 player at the time of this article’s publication. He has an individual record of 3:9 with wins over 1. FC Saarbrücken - TT’s Cedric Meissner (No. 54) and TSV Bad Königshofen’s Daniel Habesohn (Bundesliga No. 63).
Allegro is now the fourth player to extend his contract with Grenzau in 2026. He joins Feng Yi-Hsin (No. 11), Samuel Walker (No. 61) and Maciej Kubik (No. 75) as players on Grenzau’s current roster that will return for the 2026-27 season.
That 2026-27 Grenzau team will be coached by Chen Zhibin, who will replace longtime coach Slobodan Grujic this summer. Grenzau will also part ways with Luka Mladenovic (No. 23) at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Grenzau currently ranks as the Bundesliga’s No. 9 seed, and has an 8-12 record and a point differential of 16:24. The club faced relegation throughout most of the 2025-26 season, but has escaped a bottom-two spot after turning a five-match skid into a four-match winning streak beginning on Feb. 15.
The club still sits just two seeds ahead of a relegation spot, but Allegro reflects positively on his first season with Grenzau and looks forward to a brighter future for the team he will continue to play for.
“We experienced a very difficult season and had to fight hard to stay in the league, but we did it together as a team,” Allegro said, per the release. “This experience has created something special, and I am very much looking forward to continuing this path in the coming season.”
Grenzau hopes to add a fifth match to its streak against Borussia Düsseldorf on April 15 at 12:30 p.m. EDT.
