TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau’s Luka Mladenovic will not return to his club for the 2026-27 season, the club announced in a press release on Tuesday.

Mladenovic will continue his table tennis career in France as a member of the French Pro A League. His contract with Grenzau was set to expire at the end of this year, and he said he decided to accept France’s offer instead of staying with his club.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that I will not extend my expiring contract in Grenzau,” Mladenovic said, per the release. “This is a very difficult decision for me and not a decision against the club.”

Mladenovic is Table Tennis Bundesliga’s No. 43 player at the time of this article’s publication. He has a 2:3 individual record with wins over TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov (Bundesliga No. 14) and ASC Grünwettersbach's Hiroto Shinozuka (No. 18).

Mladenovic transferred to Grenzau from 1. FSV Mainz 05 ahead of the 2024-25 TTBL season. The Luxembourg native spent a total of two years with the club and nine years in Germany.

Mladenovic will leave a Grenzau roster that extended Feng Yi-Hsin (No. 21), Maciej Kubik (No. 75) and Samuel Walker (No. 65) in February. He is the first player on Grenzau’s current roster to announce that he will not return for the upcoming season.

Grenzau holds a record of 5:12 and a point differential of 10:24, which makes them TTBL’s 11th seed at the time of this article’s publication. The club faces relegation with its current record, but Mladenovic is committed to spending his final days with the club ensuring Grenzau remains in the Bundesliga.

“Whenever I’m there — in the box or on the bench — I will give everything so that we don’t end up in a relegation spot under any circumstances,” Mladenovic said. “I am very happy to see the fans at the games in the hall. Together we can do it!”

Grenzau will play its next match on March 18 against TTC OE Clarity-Tel.Syst.Bad Homburg at 2 p.m. EST.
