Fan Zhendong's 1. FC Saarbrücken - TT will play SV Union Velbert in the quarterfinal of the German Table Tennis Cup (World Table Tennis).

Table Tennis Bundesliga announced its draws for the 2025-26 German Table Tennis Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday.

1. FC Saarbrücken - TT will play an away match against second division club SV Union Velbert, who beat 1. FSV Mainz 05 by a score of 3-1. Since losing in the final match to TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen last season, Saarbrücken added Olympic gold medalist Fan Zhendong to their roster and defeated BV Borussia 09 Dortmund in the Round of 16 in nine games.

TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, last year’s German Table Tennis Cup champions, will face Post SV Mühlhausen at home. If Ochsenhausen wants to repeat without Hugo Calderano or Simon Gauzy, they will have to go through Mühlhausen, who knocked out the current second-ranked TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt in the Round of 16, 3-2.

TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell will play against TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau at home. Both of these teams defeated their respective opponents 3-0 in the Round of 16: RhönSprudel against ASC Grünwettersbach and Zugbrücke against TTC Indeland Jülich.

Defending regular season champions Borussia Düsseldorf will face TTC O.E. Bad Homburg at home. Düsseldorf, who replaced Timo Boll with Kanak Jha over the offseason, aim to avenge their Round of 16 loss last season with their 3-0 sweep of TSV Bad Königshofen in the prior round, and a hopeful sweep of a Bad Homburg team that advanced after beating 1. FC Saarbrücken 2 by a score of 3-1.

The winner of Saarbrücken and Velbert will face the winner of Ochsenhausen and Mühlhausen in the semifinals, which will be held on Jan. 4. That same day, the winner of RhonSprudel and Zugbrücke will play against the winner of Düsseldorf and Bad Homburg for a chance to make the finals.

The dates and times for each of these matches have not yet been announced at the time of this article’s publication.
