The Chicago Wind are one of the four teams participating in this year's Championship Weekend (Zoe Davis/Major League Table Tennis).

The four teams participating in Championship Weekend of Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) from April 18-19 have been decided.

The Portland Paddlers (16-2, 260 points), Chicago Wind (13-5, 227 points), Carolina Gold Rush (11-7, 199 points) and Princeton Revolution (7-11, 188 points) have earned spots in MLTT’s postseason tournament for Season 3. The first round of this tournament will pit the Paddlers against the Revolution, and the Gold Rush against the Wind on April 18.

The Portland Paddlers finished Season 3 with the best record and most total points of any MLTT team this season. They can attribute their success to the combined efforts of a very deep roster, which includes five Player of the Week winners throughout Season 3.

The Chicago Wind were the first team to secure a spot at Championship Weekend, and they finished their season as the league’s No. 2 overall team. They made the postseason in their first season as a West Division team on the backs of Singles wins leader Robert Gardos (SPINDEX: 2841), reigning Female MVP Mo Zhang (2593) and Emmanuel Lebesson (2790), the only player to win nine Singles games in one weekend.

The Carolina Gold Rush will enter this year’s playoffs as MLTT’s reigning champions. They lost several key players from last season’s title-winning roster, but Enzo Angles (2774), Eugene Wang (2804) and Edward Ly (2721) helped them earn the highest point total among East Division teams this year alongside rookies Chen Sun (2604) and Mohamed Shouman (2655).

The Princeton Revolution were the final team to earn a spot in this year’s playoffs, having booked their ticket after the final match of the regular season. They’ve rallied around MLTT’s top-ranked player Cho Seungmin (2818) throughout most of the season, but they’ve received plenty of contributions from Benedek Olah (2750), Koyo Kanamitsu (2658) and Hsien Tzu Cheng (2573).

Championship Weekend is a single-elimination tournament that serves as MLTT’s postseason. It consists of four matches in two rounds, with the top-ranked team in each division facing off against the No. 2 seed in the opposing division in the first round.

The losers of each semifinal match will compete in a consolation match for third place. The two winners will face each other in the championship match, which will determine the winners of MLTT’s third season.

The two semifinal matches will take place at 4 p.m. EST and 7:30 p.m. EST on April 18. The consolation match will begin at 4 p.m. EST on April 19, and the championship match will take place at 7:30 p.m. EST that same day.

This year’s Championship Weekend will be held at Table Tennis Academy in Fremont, Calif., which is the first time the Bay Area has ever hosted the event. All four matches will be streamed on Table Tennis TV, which can be found on TableTennis.TV, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
