The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) crowned its champions of the ETTU Europe Top 16 Cup Montreux 2026 on Sunday.

France’s Alexis Lebrun (No. 2) defended his Men’s Singles title in a 3-1 (11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6) battle against Slovenia’s Darko Jorgić (No. 4). Germany’s Sabine Winter (No. 1) swept Romania’s Bernadette Szőcs (11-4, 11-4, 11-4) to take the Women’s Singles crown.

This is Lebrun’s second consecutive Top 16 Cup title in just his third appearance in the event. Jorgić, who just made his seventh appearance in the event, was Lebrun’s final opponent in both of the Frenchman’s Cup-winning appearances.

Lebrun earned his spot in the finals after sweeping Félix Lebrun (No. 3), his younger brother, in the semifinals (11-9, 11-6, 11-9). Jorgić’s semifinal opponent was Germany’s Benedikt Duda (No. 5), whom Jorgić recently lost 0-3 to (8-11, 10-12, 9-11) at WTT Champions Doha 2026.

Winter won her first Women’s Singles title in her fifth Top 16 Cup appearance. She had lost only one game during this year’s tournament, which came during her four-game quarterfinal victory (12-14, 11-6, 11-4, 11-9) against Spain’s María Xiao (No. 12).

Winter made the finals after taking down Germany’s Ying Han (No. 4), the winner of the ETTU Europe Top 16 Cup Montreux 2025, in three games (11-8, 11-5, 11-9). Winter’s sweep over Han was a rematch of the 2025 semifinals, which Han won 1-3 (11:8 4:11 7:11 9:11).

Szőcs, Winter’s opponent in the final, won the Women’s Singles title in 2018. This was her 12th appearance in the Top 16 Cup, and she made her first final since 2019 after taking down 2024 winner Yuan Jia Nan (No. 5) from France, 3-1 (9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5).

Winter defeated Szőcs in the final, Han in the semifinal, Xiao in the quarterfinal and Germany’s Xiaona Shan (No. 14) in the Round of 16 to earn her Women’s Singles title.

Lebrun’s Men’s Singles victory came after winning against Jorgić in the final, Lebrun in the semifinal, France’s Simon Gauzy (No. 11) in the quarterfinal and Romania’s Eduard Ionescu (No. 14) in the Round of 16.
